Hemingford woman was recognized at the spring commencement exercises for
Creighton University in Omaha Saturday, May 13.
Melinda Wernke, daughter of Ed and Mary Wernke of rural Hemingford, graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
Following her graduation, she will continue to live in Omaha and work at Cooper Village, a residential facility for troubled teens. Melinda is the granddaughter of Leo and Mavis Wernke and Dorothy Kunzman, all of Alliance and the late Leonard Kunzman.
The commencement speaker was Tim Russert, political analyst and longtime moderator of “Meet the Press.”
